The Human Singularity

Ironically, my team and I used AI to learn more about human intelligence. We wanted to know the exact mechanics that make the human mind superior to machines, but we found out our minds do a lot of their thinking exactly like machines.

I’m LeiLani Cauthen, an executive with years of running companies and software development, an everyday philosopher, futurist, journalist, hardcore researcher, compiler and seeker of wisdom and truth. Much of what is in this book was found in other places and is brought together in a new way because of my willingness to look at things often overlooked. It presents ideas for others to delve deeper into and do even more research.

This book aims to show humanity some things it doesn’t know well enough. It will state some surprising insights extrapolated from the research and direct observations. It will answer these questions in ways just about anyone can grasp.

What are all the types of AI?

What is human intelligence?

How do humans think?

How can we achieve a human singularity?

What does this mean for teaching and learning?

What is human intelligence?

What are the Cauthen 9 Human Intelligences and why were they rewritten from Gardner’s 9?

What is Data Intelligence?

Truths we learned:

  • We “think” almost identically to machines, counting effects and making decisions algorithmically.
  • Creativity and Free Will go hand-in-hand. Free will is a quality machine science cannot account for, cannot make a model to represent. Free will is unpredictable.
  • Humans “know” by being.
  • Surface Learning is because learners grant “consciousness seniority” to teachers and is not deep learning. This means during student testing every teacher should be in the room with students as they test. Familiar rooms will also equate to higher recall.
  • Being conscientious is being consciously ethical and is the application of the main algorithm that defines critical thinking. The ethical intelligence of any one individual is their ability to withhold from decision or action.
  • To be able to think critically, a human must first be able to not think, blanking their mind so that they can give attention.
  • Curiosity is part of our innate character because of what we are.
  • We need to teach Data Literacy, the pre-logics to being able to reason well.
  • We need to teach Time awareness. Time is our first consideration in every decision we make because it is the only constant-inconstant.  Increasing time awareness and management skills will increase all other domains of intelligence (IQ).
  • We need to use a lot of edtech.
