The conference season is in full swing at the Learning Counsel. In September alone, we have events in South Texas, Southern California, the Northeast, North Texas, the Mid-Atlantic States, Kentucky and Tennessee. But this year is a little different. We still have the best local speakers in every area. We still have collaborative time and carefully selected resources you can’t find anywhere else. And of course, you’ll have the opportunity to hear from Learning Counsel CEO and EduJedi Grand Master LeiLani Cauthen. Everything you loved about our events from the past seven years is still there to love. In fact, this year we’re bringing you everything you always loved about our conferences… and less!
For example, we have completely eliminated the parking problem. We have taken care of traffic jams. Directions to the event have been simplified. When you attend one (or all) of the Learning Counsel’s Fall 2020 events, all roads lead to the event. We have even tipped the doorman.
In our opening event, held September 2nd and 3rd in South Texas, the first day will feature the team from Fort Sam Houston ISD - Dr. Roland Rios, Director of Technology, Mr. Wacey Tobler, Secondary Digital Learning Coach, and Ms. Jeannine Freeman, Elementary Digital Learning Coach. Dr. Kari Rhame Murphy, Chief Technology Officer from Deer Park Independent School District and Sheryl Abshire, EduJedi and Retired CTO will also be appearing on September 2nd. The second day is action-packed as well, featuring noted experts, rich interactive discussions, and real answers to real challenges that virtually every district is experiencing, virtually.
We’ll address the best practices being used in moving to hybrid learning, and we’ll explore the behind-the-scenes logistics that are making things happen. Gaps are emerging, and tech is rushing in to help. No matter where you are in your journey, from “we’re doing it on spreadsheets,” to “come check out our high-end system,” America’s schools are committed to delivering on their learning promises. Hear the inspirational stories the Learning Counsel has identified from speaking with our many successful districts and schools, and hear our predictions about what is yet to come, now that hybrid and remote learning are upon us.
Like all our events, this South Texas event is free to educators. The EduJedi Leadership Society and the Learning Counsel’s news media & research divisions are responding to the needs of America’s schools and districts with our regional two-day virtual events, bringing you nationally significant insights and helping to foster togetherness with insight from your local leaders.
According to research gleaned from our nationwide surveys, over 27,000 of you responded and said you are concerned about defining what is normal now. Concerns range from streamlining lesson planning, to recapturing missing students, to managing special needs remotely. BTW, the two most significant challenges you told us you needed help with are motivation and logistics.
In fact, 85 percent of educators are concerned about student motivation as their key issue in hybrid or remote learning. And 70 percent of America’s administrators are concerned about the logistics of time and space in hybrid schooling, and how that will affect teachers.
As a special treat, the new EduJedi Dictionary will be issued FREE to all who register for prior study and live discussion within the event. This exclusive EduJedi resource helps provide greater focus on our learners and what they do through a greater understanding by educators of the different technologies now being used. This is important today because nearly all schools are grappling with synchronous and asynchronous models, further complicated by remote and/or on-site hybrid learning enabled by technology. It contains a revised terminology dictionary for EdTech, the draft EduJedi Instructional Design Model, and draft Digital Learning Experience Standards for administrators, teachers and students.
And if for some wild and wooly reason you can’t make our South Texas event, you’ll get plenty of additional chances. I would encourage you to attend them all, if for no other reason than each event has speakers you won’t want to miss.
