In part one of this video, Kimberly Linson, Director of Business Development at Randa explores the world of the Comprehensive Leaner Record, a permanent all-digital credentialing that will carry an individual’s learning accomplishments for a lifetime. It is important work, and Randa is tackling it head-on.
In the second part of our video, LeiLani Cauthen, CEO and Publisher at the Learning Counsel, will dissect space and time to rethink the whole concept of knowledge delivery in (and out of) the school setting. According to Cauthen, “What we're hearing a lot from the teacher ranks is that this massive moderation of time where we're going to be in, we're going to be out, we're going to be remote. And then all of a sudden, the whole disruption occurs and it sort of rips up the whole calendar for them. That's a technology that's needed and that's what the Learning Counsel has been looking at. Also, this idea of how you could auto cohort students based on pace when they're doing asynchronous learning and calendaring by pace. What you'll notice is that the online structures don't do that; they're course structured rather than class structured. The trick has always been, how do you create a quality human interface teacher, leading students with some direct instruction, but allow every student get totally personalized learning?”
This is a fascinating look at the restructuring of education, with everything on the table. Can technology truly personalize learning while allowing teachers to do what they do best – being human? The Learning Counsel is betting that it can.
