Pilot Point ISD Superintendent Todd Southard and the district’s Board of Trustees has made the decision to equip the district’s facilities with Go-To-Green, the country’s most innovative emergency preparedness platform with the stated goal of getting people, including the district’s more than 1,400 teachers and students, to safety in the case of an emergency such as an active-shooter situation.
Like many smaller districts, Pilot Point had some systems that had been built over time, rather than with a singular capital investment. When the district began planning to replace its school surveillance cameras with a singular system, they realized that the latest technology allowed them to do much more than watch a situation unfold. Pilot Point ISD Chief of Police Brad Merritt had seen a demonstration of Go-To-Green, and he realized that he had the opportunity to create a lasting impact for the students and staff he is committed to serve.
As a part of the district’s comprehensive bidding process, Merritt brought in Ernie Williams and Go-To-Green as one of the options presented to the district’s Board of Trustees.
“We knew we needed to unify our cameras into a comprehensive system we could manage remotely,” said Merritt. “Go-To-Green allowed us to remotely monitor all of our campus facilities and ensure the safest environment for our community.”
The district is installing the cutting-edge system in their four main campuses as well as in our alternative school and in our stadium facilities. Installation is expected to begin in the next two weeks and will take less than a month to complete.
Go-To-Green (GTG) is a revolutionary emergency evacuation system designed for schools, businesses and buildings to quickly get people to safety in an active-shooter scenario or other emergency while also providing valuable directional information for law enforcement to ensure the most rapid resolution of a crisis. Go-To-Green uses patented auditory sensors which can detect gunfire, whether indoors or outdoors, and creates safe routes to evacuation for people in danger and provides critical information to law enforcement as to the location and direction of movement for the shooter.
As compared to every other security system on the market today, Go-To-Green’s primary mission is to help evacuate people to safety first, then isolating an assailant so they can be neutralized by law enforcement.
Pilot Point ISD has had a long-standing commitment to offering an exceptional work and educational environment to its students and faculty. In fact, the district’s mission calls the leadership to create the school where every student wants to grow, the district where every educator wants to teach, and the community where every family wants to live. Superintendent Todd Southard sees adding Go-To-Green as central to that mission.
“I am proud of the commitment our board has made to the safety of current and future generations of Pilot Point Bearcats,” noted Southard. “Keeping our schools safe is central to everything we do at Pilot Point ISD.”
Go-To-Green was created by decorated veteran and counterintelligence expert Ernie Williams.
“Go-To-Green is designed to ensure that those involved in an active-shooter situation have the best chance of survival and that law enforcement personnel have the best possible data to make rapid decisions,” said Williams. “While we cannot prevent active shooter situations, we can greatly limit the loss of lives and hopefully take power back from shooters seeking to do harm. We are proud to help the families of Pilot Point return to school with a strong sense of security.”
Go-To-Green’s emergency evacuation system will also direct people to safety during fires, tornado warnings or other catastrophic events. The system is designed to integrate seamlessly with many existing platforms including Honeywell Nautilus Tridium and others.
