During the three-day conference, participants will hear from dynamic speakers and have access to world-class professional development sessions to help them catalyze change in their schools and communities.
“This was the best professional development conference I have ever attended,” said previous conference attendee Janelle Christensen, a language arts teacher and National Honor Society advisor at Henry Sibley High School in Minnesota. “It was very inspiring and motivating. I wish ALL my teaching colleagues could attend.”
About the speakers:
Elena Aguilar is the founder and president of Bright Morning consulting, an international education, coaching and consulting firm. She has trained thousands of educators across the United States and abroad and has authored four highly-acclaimed books: “The Art of Coaching,” “The Art of Coaching Teams,” “Onward: Cultivating Emotional Resilience in Educators,” and the “Onward Workbook.” Aguilar has 25 years of experience as a classroom teacher, instructional coach and leadership coach working in diverse school environments. She also co-founded Kenya Big Picture Learning and is on the advisory board of UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center.
Dr. Adolph Brown, III is an educator, author, research-scientist, businessman and a much sought-after speaker on the issues of unconscious bias, equity, diversity and inclusion. He is best known for inspiring all who hear him to learn, laugh and lead, while as an implicit bias speaker simultaneously reducing unconscious bias at every turn. He is also a leading provider of anti-bias training in business and education. Dr. Brown knows that understanding structural inequities is only the start; dismantling the foundations from which these structures are built leads to solutions.
Anthony Kim is a nationally-recognized speaker and Corwin Press bestselling author of publications, including “The New Team Habits,” “The New School Rules,” and “The Personalized Learning Playbook.” He writes on topics such as the future of work, leadership and team motivation, improving the way we work, and innovation in systems-based approaches to organizations and school design. In 2010 he founded Education Elements, a trusted partner and consultant to more than 1,000 schools nationwide.
Attendees of the conference will have a plethora of leadership sessions to choose from. They include:
Personalized learning sessions which provide participants with everything needed to design, launch, implement and sustain personalized learning in their district or school.
Strategic planning sessions which offer insight into how to run a powerful strategic planning process that will promote successful, sustainable, scalable change.
NEW Team Habits boot camp and sessions based on Kim’s recently-released book and designed to help participants begin making changes right away to how they learn, how they conduct meetings and how they run projects.
Innovative leadership sessions which show participants how to become innovative responsive leaders in their communities by having the tools and mindset to develop and support teacher-led innovation.
“Strong, effective leadership is critical to transforming education which is why we’re offering this conference for the sixth year to support school leaders in this work,” said Kim. “Our conference will give participants the opportunity to collaborate and network with like-minded peers as they develop innovative ideas to transform their leadership teams – and their school districts.”
The conference also includes Innovation Tours of area businesses. Past tours have included Google, Facebook, MailChimp, Lyft, GA Power, and Home Depot with an eye on how these companies continue to innovate so participants can glean ideas about how these businesses structure their work and work space that they might be able to apply in their own organizations.
