The Character Tree has created four new video lessons for Black History Month to help schools teach character development to first and second grade students.

The videos highlight the character traits of bravery and curiosity while recognizing the achievements of Ruby Bridges, Simone Biles, Mae Jemison, and George Washington Carver. Teachers and parents can sign up to access these and dozens of other videos for free through the end of the school year by visiting: https://charactertree.com/sign-up/#join.

The Character Tree, a new online resource for character development, uses engaging discussions, real-life examples from history, role modeling and hands-on materials to emphasize positive character traits such as kindness, bravery, hope, leadership, gratitude and perseverance.

The subscription provides access to 32 videos suitable for first and second grade students. The videos feature adorable puppets asking and answering questions, as well as discussions about prominent figures. The lessons are standards-aligned and each comes with a teacher’s guide and printable resources for students.
