Channelview Independent School District (ISD) has selected Care Solace, an organization determined to calm the chaos of mental healthcare coordination, to extend access to mental health care and resources for families and staff. Care Solace equips school districts with a web-based tool that makes it easier to connect with both community-based and virtual mental healthcare providers and programs.
"We are incredibly excited to partner with Care Solace, and know this partnership will benefit our community in a very unique way," said Greg Ollis, Superintendent at Channelview ISD. "Mental health is not something that should be taken lightly, and we are now able to offer our staff, teachers, parents, and students an outlet for them to seek the help they need."
Located in an unincorporated area outside of Houston, Texas, 80 percent of Channelview ISD students are economically disadvantaged (TAPR, 2019). Limited community-based care resources and an increased demand for student and staff mental healthcare led the school district to seek additional support through Care Solace.
With Care Solace, families and staff gain access to a dedicated Care Concierge team, with experts available around-the-clock to guide users through processes related to insurance, provider availability, wait times and scheduling. Care Solace’s care navigation system uses proprietary technology and a vast database of behavioral and mental healthcare resources to find carefully vetted therapists and programs in minutes.
“Students can’t learn if they aren’t supported mentally, physically and academically, and staff can’t help if they don’t have access to the right resources,” said Karen Bryant, Ed.D, Director of Testing, Counseling, 504, RTI, and Dyslexia at Channelview ISD. “Partnering with Care Solace will help us bridge this gap and offer quality, trusted mental healthcare resources to our community.”
More than 90,000 school staff and parents at partnering school communities of Care Solace used the pre-screening tool, with at least 40,000 students receiving mental healthcare support as a result. Care Solace has facilitated an estimated 4,500 crisis interventions.
