Bloomz today announced the addition of two major new functionalities to its free parent communication app: Behavior Management and Student Portfolios.
Behavior Management allows teachers to securely share student conduct reports with parents in real time, all the while reinforcing positive habits. Students will earn points for positive behavior, giving the teacher the option to share quick conduct reports with parents and keep a history of behavior for every student in their class. In keeping with the app’s name, Bloomz offers students a virtual flower that they nurture through positive behavior and which will fully bloom after they collect a predetermined number of points collected.
The new Student Portfolio feature allows teachers to share student-submitted work with parents, keeping a record of the student’s work throughout the school year (and beyond). Bloomz also allows teachers to add a note to the parents, annotate on the image and even record audio on top of it to provide more context on the work itself. Both Behavior Management and Student Portfolios complete Bloomz’s Student Timeline, a central hub that gives parents a glance at their kids’ life at school and provides teachers with an all-inclusive app to manage their classroom and keep parents engaged.
“Behavior Management helps teachers and parents work together for the betterment of students, and along with Student Portfolios, creates an engaging relationship between the two,” said Chaks Appalabattula, the CEO of Bloomz. “With these new features, we aim to reduce the number of tools that teachers currently use by incorporating functionality that teachers and parents need, so they won’t have to look for it elsewhere.”
In order to enable Behavior Management or Student Portfolios, teachers who are currently using Bloomz should access their class, and they will receive a pop-up notification asking them to enable these functions. Users can also update their functionality using a toggle switch in their Class Settings.
Bloomz will continue to provide updates to its app in the following weeks to build on these features and improve the experience in the app, including adding native video support. With all these new features, Bloomz continues to raise the bar for other parent communication – and now, classroom management tools out there.
